CBSE has advised schools to check for differences between students’ theory and practical marks.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) found differences between theory and practical marks in some subjects in past years’ results. AI tools identified these differences in over 50% of students at about 500 CBSE-affiliated schools.
The Board has advised these schools to review their internal assessment process.
In an official notice, the Board mentioned that this difference shows a need for careful assessment during practical exams in schools.
Through this review, CBSE wants to create a stronger, clearer, and more dependable system to make sure the assessment process is accurate and truly benefits students’ education.
The official notice says, “The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has found, using advanced AI tools, that there are big differences between theory and practical marks in some subjects for more than 50% of students in about 500 CBSE-affiliated schools, based on past years’ results. This shows that practical exams in schools need to be assessed more carefully. So, the Board has advised these schools to review their internal assessment methods. The goal is to create a stronger, clearer, and more reliable system to make sure the assessment process is accurate and truly benefits students’ education.”
CBSE wants schools to focus on fairness and accuracy when assessing practical exams to improve the quality of education in CBSE-affiliated institutions.
